Sheila Schaetzle
Canadian Artist, Landscapes and Abstracts; Inspired by Nature.
From the beautiful province of New Brunswick. I now lived in Calgary with my husband and two sons.
I launched my professional career with The Federation of Canadian Artists, (FCA) in 2008, and was recognized as an Elected Member with the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA) in 2016.
A little about me.
I start my mornings writing and reading. I journal about progress, and plans; decision making and memories. I alternate my time and thought between family, and creating artwork. I spend my time at home, the YMCA to stay strong and my studio. The best part of painting is the start. I really enjoy the planning process and a quick start to a painting. Big brushes and broad strokes create interesting shapes that I can build on and once the canvas is full; and the layout is accepted its time for more colour. Layers of colour right on the canvas; playfully pushing the theories; predicting the results. Its a conceptual style; as I don't rely on a reference as much as responding to what is developing. With years of past discovery it seems like the best way to enjoy creating a painting.
I'm delighted to be part of the Burns Visual Artists collective. Studio visits are available by appointment. I continue to exhibit and sell my art through local and regional art shows; including the Leighton Art Centre, State of Art Society and Riverview Artists. I am represented by ArtMatch, a regional online curated art platform. My studio is in the Burns Visual Artists building located in the community of Ramsay. My studio is a place you can visit; come see my art in person (by appointment please).
Thank you for viewing my website; if your an art lover your next step is to see ART in person. Go to art shows; follow me on IG or sign up for my newsletter to see show announcements. My Instagram is @schaetzle.artworks and announcements are in my newsletters. Seeing art in person is an opportunity to see the brush stroke, the layers of transparent colours, the size and the finished product; all important aspects that can be missed on digital images. Join me to learn more about how I create art.
